Identity has long been seen as something that cannot be stolen. This is no longer the case. Today, paranoid people are not the only ones who should be afraid for the contents of their minds. Read and be disturbed, for this could be you… or someone else!
The world is changing rapidly, but not rapidly enough for some people. These people are always trying to get things moving faster and faster, and even faster than that. This dizzying rate of movement with consequent stress and stress-related problems have led directly to the idea that once your own identity is in ruins, you can steal someone else’s. This is all comparably well known, at least in theory. The surprise is contained in the next chapter.
Jim crept closer and cursed his bad luck: Ted had probably heard him approaching and was now ready for what was to come. Little would it help him now. Jim squeezed the trigger.
That was only slightly surprising, wasn’t it? However, there are bigger surprises in store, and I’m not holding back: the above chapter was written by an identity thief! You are not convinced, are you? Very well. Consider this: the style of the chapter is totally different from the rest of the text! What’s more, the chapter has been written inside a different time zone! And if this isn’t enough, whoever wrote it using my computer, my hands, and my brain was not a credible writer the way I clearly am. Still not convinced? Read on.
I am not here to persuade you. If evidence alone is not enough, maybe you just aren’t ready to face the truth. I don’t actually pity you: my mental powers allow me to put aside any immediate impressions, you understand. Regardless, some day you might come back to this text and realize what a fool you were not to take heed. I may already be dead by then, and nobody will be there to say: “I told you so!”
